Amidst the cultural foment and intellectual agitation of pre-revolutionary Russia, a young English music student embarks upon a spiritual adventure. Led by a circuitous route to an out-of-the-way flat draped with oriental carpets, he meets the mysterious Prince Ozay. The experience which unfolds focuses the young student on the inner life of man and an astonishing interpretation of the Lord¹s Prayer through a technique that merges prayer, music, and breath to touch the inmost depths of the soul.
The spiritual teacher George Ivanovich Gurdjieff (1877-1949) arrived in Moscow and St. Petersburg after a long odyssey through the monasteries and hidden esoteric schools of the Middle and Far East. Gurdjieff had been driven by his all-consuming question: What is the sense and purpose of life on Earth, and particularly, of human life? This quest gradually brought him the ancient knowledge he carried to the West.
